In 2009, Abu Dhabi saw its
first Formula 1 Grand Prix and 2012 is no different. The Etihad Airways F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is taking place this year on Sunday 4th
November 2012. As usual, it is expected to be an outstanding event at the city’s
Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, the up and coming entertainment area in East
Abu Dhabi. Your first stop should be booking Abu Dhabi F1 tickets. This can be
easily done on the
Etihad Airways website and the airline will even allow you
to book your trip package including flights, hotels and tickets.
As part of the weekend event,
concerts each evening will take place at the nearby Du Arena. On the first
night, Australian Kylie Minogue will be performing as part of her K25
tour/campaign. On the Saturday night, Nickelback will be performing, and then
following the Sunday’s racing event, the legendary Eminem will be performing.
Your Abu Dhabi F1 ticket will give you access to these concerts, provided you collect
your entry wristband each day.
Regarding your accommodation,
there are six hotels on Yas Island within walking distance to the circuit
whilst the Yas Viceroy Hotel sits within the circuit and even over it. It’s
quite an iconic building at the Grand Prix, and will no doubt host scores of
the rich and famous throughout the Grand Prix weekend. Although a good 40
minute drive, the downtown area has more of the hustle and bustle of the city
and has a range of budget to luxury accommodation, including the Emirates
Palace hotel near the Abu Dhabi Marina Mall which is said to be the world’s
most expensive hotel.
Abu Dhabi based Etihad
Airways is the Grand Prix’s primary sponsor and is also the national airline of
the United Arab Emirates. Packages for the F1 in Abu Dhabi can be bought
through Etihad Airways for those who need some extra help in deciding where to
stay.
